MMCWA is a national non-governmental organization serving Myanmar community by improving the health and well-being of mothers and children with the aim to improve the quality of life of the people. The Maternal and Child Welfare Association is a voluntary humanitarian organization dedicate to serving the Myanmar society in promoting the health and well-being of mothers and children with the aim to improve the quality of life of the people. MMCWA was established on 30th April, 1991. MMCWA collaborates closely with the Government Ministries, UN agencies, national and international NGOs in the implementation of the programmes which are in line with the policy laid down by the National Health Committee. The strategy applied is social mobilization towards community participation to implement community based health care activities. Prioritized issues are SRHR, Nutrition, Healthy life style, Prevention and Control of communicable and non- communicable diseases. The targeted population is confined to mothers, newborn and under five children, also young people and elderly. SRHR is the field where MMCWA has never missed since 1990 with a right-based approach.
